Tag Archives: Floral

Floral motifs have been important to design since there was a human impulse to design, and we use this tag on a post any time we are featuring flowers. Not only do we have chandeliers shaped like flowers and pendants festooned with them, we have upholstery swathed in them in our showrooms during furniture market. With our Fleur accent table, the whimsical design has a top in a simplified flower pattern. The Briallen demi-lune and decorative boxes hold a lush flower, just one, as a powerful door pull and handle on the top of the box. On our Waterlily chandelier, golden cups shaped like waterlilies hold the glass shades in place, and with the Ottoline chandelier, the bulbs grow out of intricately shaped metal flowers. The Westley Wall Sconce is a whimsical piece treated to a festive interplay of finishes that include verdigris and antique gold leaf accents. With flourishes, leaves and flowers blooming from the wall plate of this artful piece, Bunny Williams has created a true floral beauty!

Among the products chosen by Beth Diana Smith are the So Nouveau Large and Small Vases, our Manhattan Small Vase, and the Swoop Tray Set, designed by Jamie Beckwith. The latter is based on a strong graphic shape that comes alive with the contrasting of pieces of bone and composite in ivory and black along the surface. Originally created in bold patterns for vertical and horizontal surfaces, Beckwith says of the Swoop, “I was inspired by mid-century design, specifically Italian designer Gio Ponti, when creating the Swoop pattern. I especially like the idea of curves with straight lines found in Swoop. There is a feminine but masculine feeling to these designs which work well in many environments, and that is due specifically to the shape.” We have a number of offerings in the Swoop family of products.

Tish Mills designed a bedroom in the guest house in the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach. During an Instagram Live event with Phillip Jeffries she told attendees that she pulled out the closet to put in the fireplace. Highlighting the wallpaper by Phillip Jeffries, she noted the entire room is covered in ripples to represent the waves rolling ashore on the nearby beaches. Her pretend client was a New York transplant who is acclimating to the surrounding nature, so everything in the space reflects a connection to the elemental. This includes our leafy Tropical Grande Floor Lamp near the corner of the fireplace.

Jim Dove, of Jim Dove Design chose our Sillage Chandelier for this colorful bar area. Made of wrought iron in a mix of contemporary gold leaf and painted contemporary gold finishes, the Sillage Chandelier was designed by Ian Thornton, who notes, “I love this design because it seamlessly incorporates the beauty and simplicity of a pendant with the arms of a chandelier. There is a light inside the body that illuminates the columns of cones from the inside. The inspiration comes from Italian design.” His design of the gold chandelier inspired the name, the French word for the way a perfume’s fragrance lingers in the air, because its light lingers in the air just as beautifully!

The Bee My Honey Chandelier, designed by Sasha Bikoff, crowns this colorful room designed by Chris Goddard of Goddard Design Group. The chandelier is made of wrought iron in an antique brass finish and is handmade using a technique called metal piercing, a process during which composite is poured into the cavity of a mold and intricately pierced using a nail-shaped piece of metal. The textural stippling creates the feeling of a hive around which cast bees have been welded. We also offer this design in a side table.

Tiffany Brooks chose our Moderne Chandelier as a focal point in her space, the fixture perfect for the vibe she created in its luminous gold and crisp white finishes. Designed by Tom Caldwell, the uber-modern white chandelier has a hand formed sheet-metal structure. “Its diffusers are designed to direct the light source upward so it can reflect off of the ceiling and create a warm glow around the room where it is located,” Tom remarks. “We chose a gesso white finish for the exterior that is accented with a warm contemporary gold leaf on the interior of the diffusers.” We offer the Moderne sconces in black and white versions.

In the right-hand corner, facing, of this space designed by Noz Nozawa is our Abu Accent Table with its seated ape that lifts its table top with little effort. The table, which is made of cast aluminum, has an antique gold finish that covers the piece to make the gold occasional table read as if it has aged. Creases molded into the top also support the effect that this is a vintage piece.

The bottom diffuser on this gold flush-mount is made of opaque glass, as well. We also offer the Go-Go in a pendant.

Nikki Levy, who chose our Blossom Two-Light Wall Sconces for her space, describes the bathroom as a nod to vintage design that would have been au currant when the house was built in 1929. The gold sconces, designed by Denise McGaha, were so cleverly installed by the designer. These fixtures were inspired by magnolia blossoms. “I am super excited that my Southern heritage and love for magnolia is making nature and lighting come together in such a beautiful way!” McGaha says of her design. The brass sconce is one of three fixtures in the blossom family, each certified for damp locations.

Kelly Finley chose our Villette Black Table Lamp for her guest suite, photographed below. Extending daintily from a ball of black marble, the thin stem of the lamp is made of metal in a brass finish. At the very point where the black shantung shade culminates at its bottom-most point and just above the base are the subtlest of accents that bring this gold and black table lamp its sophistication and charm. Tom Caldwell designed the Villette.
