We’ve launched our new Spring 2021 offerings and there’s one particular family of products that is all about color! It’s the Mister M collection that pays homage to the fabulous color combinations used by the painter Piet Mondrian, the Mister M after whom this family of accessories and lamps is named.
The Mister M Vases Are Personality Personified
One look at these vases as a group and it’s obvious they are all about color but they are also about bringing sophisticated style to a room—decorative accessories that serve as reminders of the early days of modern art. Made of solid mango wood, the turned vessels have been carefully hand painted in lively hues. Presented as a whole, the collection makes a very strong statement of modernity and is an ode to primary colors. They are shown above from left to right: the Mister M Red, Black & Yellow Vase (1200-0423), the Mister M Tall Vase (1200-0421), the Mister M Trapeze Vase (1200-0425), the Mister M Round Black & Red Vase (1200-0422), and the Mister M Yellow, Blue & Red Vase (1200-0424)
Mister M Lamps Are Also Statement Items
Tom Caldwell calls the Red Table Lamp (above) and the White Table Lamp (below) modern versions of a traditionally shaped urn. “We’ve cleaned up the lines and eliminated much of the detail which would have been prominent on the traditional piece,” he explains. “The red lacquer finish is accentuated with a black lacquered parchment shade. The combination of clean lines, bright contrasting colors, and great scale makes these pieces real statement items.”
The Mister M Red and Blue Disc Table Lamp (below) is another design that pays homage to the fabulous color combinations used by the painter Piet Mondrian. Made of wrought iron and concrete in powerful hues of blue, yellow, red, and black, the multicolored table lamp joins the other products in this collection in making a strong statement of modernity and primary colors, including a sister disc floor lamp that looks the same but with a longer stem.
Also in the beauty shot at the beginning of this post is the Memphis Table Lamp (below), which Aimee Kurzner, its designer, calls her take on the Memphis Movement from the 1980s. Made of composite in black and blue finishes, the rotund curves have that quintessential mix of art deco and pop art styles that the movement brought together. Perched upon a mosaic detail atop an optic crystal base, the lamp is topped with a black drum shade.
