When we introduced products by Shannon Koszyk last October, we did not fully appreciate the Seattle-based jewelry and product designer’s wide appeal. Sweet grandmothers and rock stars alike collect her jewelry and now – home furnishings. Think Alexander McQueen meets Shakespeare and you will understand her design aesthetic. All grounded in history and symbolism, both secular and religious, Ms. Koszyk’s lighting and furniture is opulent and decadent while retaining a gritty, vintage edge.
With more Koszyk designs on the drawing board, Currey & Company introduces six new product additions this April. The Gwyneth Chandelier displays a classic Empire silhouette with a hand-applied Old Iron and Aged Brass frame. Small faceted copper-coated beads are meticulously finished to look like pyrite and are then carefully attached in a fanciful open lattice weave.
The Prophecy Chandelier is a deconstructed beauty with glass beads and chains dripping from a lustrous Viejo Gold Leaf frame.
Momento De Mori Table Lamp
The striking Momento De Mori Table Lamp reminds us of our mortality by featuring a very surreal Antique Nickel skull fixed to an otherwise Black base. Topped with an inky Black Parchment shade, this table lamp is pure drama, as the skull has represented an edgy symbol throughout history.
